Cruelty to Animal Statutes
The Animal Control Department Officers are trained and licensed by the Texas Department of Health, Zoonosis Control.
Animal Control Officers typically work 8 hour days however Officers maintain a 24 hour on call schedule. Officers may be called out afterhours in emergency situations such as a vicious animal or an animal bite as deemed necessary by the Patrol Sergeant on duty.
The Dumas Animal Shelter is staffed by the Animal Control Officers and volunteers of the Moore County Animal Society. If you would like to volunteer at the animal shelter contact one of the Animal Control Officers for further information.
Animals not reclaimed by their owners and strays which are not deemed as dangerous can be adopted. If you are interested in an adoption contact one of the Animal Control Officers or come by the shelter.

Fee Schedule:
Reclaim Fees:
$20.00 impound fee, $6.00 food/water = $26.00 First Day
$6.00 per day for each additional day animal in shelter.
Adoption Fees:
$50.00 this includes:
$30.00 toward steriliztion, 15.00 informational microchip, and $5.00 donation to the Moore County Animal Society.
Animal Surrender:
$10.00 will be charged for all animals surrendered.
Animal Quarantine:
$100.00 reclaim fee for a 10 day rabies exposure quarantine, this includes if your animal has bitten a person or another animal and you do not have proof of rabies vaccination.
